The NELAC Institute: TNI is Seeking Volunteers for New Committees & Task Forces

As part of its 2020-2025 strategic plan, the NELAC Institute (TNI) has created four new groups to explore various new initiatives. TNI is seeking volunteers to serve on these new groups. If you are interested, send an email to Jerry Parr at jerry.parr@nelac-institute.org and indicate which group you are interesting in joining.

TRAINING COMMITTEE

Objectives:

  • Develop a comprehensive plan for training.

  • Seek out additional trainers for needs identified.

  • Explore development of training tracks for quality managers, technical managers, and other similar groups.

  • Expand use of technology to administer and automatically grade tests and provide certificates and digital badges.

  • Increase use of available training materials already developed.

TASK FORCE FOR COMPETENCY Objectives:

  • Establish a task force to explore and make recommendations regarding programs to document competencies for Quality Managers, Technical Managers, Assessors, Samplers and others as appropriate. Note: Such documentation may involve credentialing

TASK FORCE FOR LABORATORY CONSUMABLES Objectives:

  • Explore the feasibility of developing implementation guidance, and ultimately, a standard for laboratory consumables.

  • Consider forming an Expert Committee to turn guidance into a standard once the initial effort is complete.

  • Ensure representation from the vendor community.

MENTOR PROGRAM SUBCOMMITTEE Objectives:

  • Gather input on ways which consider various approaches such as one on one, conference calls, webinars and electronic bulletin boards, which can help develop a laboratory mentoring plan for small laboratories.

  • Note: As this program gets developed, TNI may seek additional individuals to be a laboratory mentor. You do not have to be on this committee to become a mentor.

Sincerely,

Jerry Parr, Executive Director The NELAC Institute
